Sometimes it is hard to remember that God knows what is happening to us and will help us. Have you ever been scared about doing something new like starting in a new school or seeing a new doctor?

God goes into these new places with us, and he went with the Israelites when they left Egypt. Let’s see what happened to them.

The Pharaoh, king of Egypt, did not want to give freedom to the Israelites.  He wanted them to be his slaves. Egypt would lose thousands of workers if the Israelites left for Canaan. God wanted the Israelites to be free, so he brought a series of plagues or natural disasters on the Egyptians. God showed his power by bringing: flies, blood red water, frogs, gnats, slaughtered livestock, locusts, darkness, hail, and the death of the oldest son in each Egyptian family.  The Pharaoh finally decided to free the Israelites to stop the awful disasters.  When the Pharaoh’s son died, the Pharaoh commanded them to leave Egypt immediately.
